Sunday Worship at John Huss
-
Liturgical
We use the historic Lutheran liturgy found in The Lutheran Hymnal (1941) at each worship service. Our order of Holy Communion and our hymns come from it. These orders of service have sustained the church of Christ for many centuries and serve us well.
-
Reverent
Since the LORD Himself is present in our church according to His promise, we worship in the beauty of holiness. Our actions, the church’s colors and paraments, the pastor’s vestments, and our words all respect the Holy One Who is with us in the Divine Service.
-
Historic
The hymns that we sing are centuries-old. The words that we use have been used at John Huss since we began to worship in English. Some of the chants we use echo chants used when we worshipped in Slovak. The readings we hear have been read for many centuries. We maintain the church’s traditions for the sake of young and old.
Holy Communion
The Body and Blood of Christ are present in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. Therefore, we take the Lord’s Supper together in unity of faith and life. If you do not share our confession of faith and are not a member of the Lutheran Church—-Missouri Synod or her sister churches, please refrain from Communion and speak to the Pastor about membership.
